Thumbs up Anti-jerk: whats the nicest thing someone has done for you

Hi

Well seeing as the Jerk post is still ticking along nicely I thought I'd start a thread when we can post the nice things people do.

Once back when I was broke and buying a cheap sword from a guy in 15k armor I couldnt afford the asking price by about 50g or something ... so he says hang on and modifes the trade ... then gives me the sword and a poison string for *free* ...

helped me on my way selling that for 500g

(and just for the record I have met more nice people than Jerks by about 20:1)

I was helping a steam in THK, and I was healing my ass off, and at the end of the mission someone actually said "Nice healing", which is a very rare thing to hear as being a monk.

And of course, the guy that gave me 40K and an ecto when I got him through the Nolani mission was quite nice.

Met a bloke who ran me from Piken to Yaks bend for free, was gonna charge but changed his mind at Grenditch. Not much I know but it helps & really builds up your faith in gamers.

While I was new and playing through the game, no one was really that nice to me. I played almost everything with henchmen and a few friends.

After I started running people I have met a lot of very nice people. When I run people I often talk to them and sometimes make good friends. That is how I met one of my best GW friends, who actually gave me a Tarnok's Recurve Bow later as a gift to a friend. It was really a nice move and I appreciate it a lot.

I also remember one particular warrior dancing in Ascalon City, who gave me and my fellow ranger (both in pink female druids ) a flower. I kept that flower untill I found someone special enough to give it. I hope that flower is still spreading happiness today.

I was doing THK as a necro and found myself with two exp monks, one exp warrior, and the remaining four not knowing what they were doing.

We had a hard time keeping the newer players under control and the monks were running around rezing and healing like crazy. I was hot on their heels charging them up and still get in a SS once in a while.

One of the warriors said, "good monks", and the monk said, "No, good necro". I had never heard that before.

That was the first time I've ever had a monk compliment a necro for keeping their energy up to the whole group.

OK i am always giving stuff away.
Find a sweat axe, beam right to ascalon, find a newbie, make their day.

I was helping a guildie last month with my monk get through thunderkeep and made friends with an elementalist.

She goes and gives me a superior healing rune. Gives me for free. And i needed it as i was making a 55 monk. OMG. I tried to give it back but she would not take it.

Well i invited her into my guild. Since then I have helped her get through thundekeep (not trivial) and have introduced her to gvg (spent a lot of time in instruction and mentoring). Well also help her get through Fire Island.

I always pay my debts.

Ok my turn. I was in pre-searing Ascalon and this guy had a chest plate that I was looking for. I didn’t know where to go as I didn’t know my way around at the time.

So I went up to him and asked him who he got it from and the general location. But instead of telling me, he invited me and we formed a two man group, and he took me to the exact location and helped me get the materials that I needed for the collector. He also gave me some really helpful tips on what to do and where stuff is.

I know it don’t sound like much but for a ‘newbie’ to find that much gammer friendliness in one guy were others had told me to die get lost was really good.

You've never been in my group then... The first time I was hit by Blood Ritual was during an ascension mission, the only monk. I was amazed and when I had the time I told her she was awesome. I always appreciate the necros who do that, and I always tell them to the group how much it helps out.

Anyway, when I got my second account and made a necro, I made that other necro my model. I always volunteer to bring BiP or Blood Rit.

After going through the new Tombs several times (monking) and getting nothing, a guildie (one of my officers and I consider a friend even though I've never met her), took me to the Isle of the Nameless and started dropping little piles of greens and ectos and asked me to choose a pile.

Such bad luck in drops, but good luck in friends.

I'm just gonna say a quick thing about the guild I'm in then go to a story about a stranger.
The guild I'm in is so nice, people help out with quests and missions no matter how many times its been done.
Prices for greens are slashed way even beyond 50% less, upgrades are given away for free.

Now the nicest thing from a stranger, I posted here that I needed Bortak's Bone Staff, I was in game and someone PMed me saying that if I still need the staff. I told him/her yes and I met them in LA internationl. He gave me the staff for free and did not want to take anything for it. I checked the price and its was like 100k+15 ectos at the time. I was like

As for myself I always give free stuff away, I go back to Ascalon area and give out shields and swords.

In Droks, you see a lot of monks and necros wanting feathers. Some people charge 20gp each trying to take advantage, I just give them away for free.

I was trying to cap Spellbreaker with my monk in a pug that included Orion and Alesia. Everyone knows what a grind it is starting from Rankor, but I hadn't been to War camp yet, so I couldn't start from there. Anyway, by the time the party got to Grenth's, everyone but a R/Mo had bailed. Down four party members, we were this close to calling it a night when both of us, unspoken and unexpectedly, started to head North. We took out a few mobs along along the way, things started looking up. We finally got to the monk boss, and after a very long and protracted battle (think Orion's random nukes and massive wand damage) downed him, and capped the skill. The R/Mo is on my friends list now, has a monk at his beckon call, and recently received a gold Eternal Storm Bow, UW drop, in appreciation. Really made my day.

Yep the same thing happened to me more or less. Was looking for a collector in pre-sear and was just standing round ascalon city asking anyone if they knew where he was.
To which i got the usual ignorant replies " in a ditch" & "on fire" and many more pig headed remarks. When a guy came up and offered to show me where he was, then proceeded to show me every collector AND help me obtain all the items that i needed for my armour.
We left pre-sear shortly afterwards but got split up in the pvp thing, He then pm'ed me the next day to ask how i was then met me in ascalon and gave me all the gold and materials i needed for my first set of post-sear armour!
This guy is now my guild leader and i am one of his most loyal officers.

KINDNESS costs NOTHING!

Umm... I was doing Ruins of Surmia with a random PuG of a Me/W and W/Mo... we made it up to the monk boss about 3/4 through and died, then the W/Mo had to leave. Me (Mo/Me) and the Me/W decided to just run it again with Stephan this time. About halfway through, of me smiting/hexing/healing he/she complimented me on my healing, and I was kinda amazed... since I usually try to avoid PuG's due to hearing of all the insane random newbs that are in there. Unfortunately, we split up (by accident) and both of the henchies followed me and he/she ran into a group of about 4 charr or so and got raped. Of course, me being the dumbass newb that I am only had a Res Sig too... so I ressed him/her and a little bit later (just before the end) he/she got killed again, but luckily I finished the mission alone. I felt bad about letting him/her die though

I know this isn't what happened to me, but I think it helped anyway. I was running around in pre-searing with my current char (she has 13k.... or she did yesterday, down to 3k now but I bought a lot of dyes :P) and I saw a random Mesmer asking for 50g. I whispered her and wanted to know what she needed it for, and she said she needed to ID some stuff. I gave her the 50g, because I had 13k so it wasn't a big loss to me if I didn't get it back, and she was all grateful that I did it. After she ID'd/sold some of the stuff she had, she actually paid me back the 50g which kinda shocked me... I was expecting to lose the 50g, but sometimes people can amaze you

In Ring of Fire missions (i can't quite remember which one it was) a nice w/mo got a gold max dmg fire staff and asked if i wanted it. I said ok and asked how much and he said just have it for free. Since then my idea of warriors being selfish and quite idiotic (because of one i came across earlier in the game) disappeared

When the holloween event was here, I had brought my war over from pre in the hopes of getting him a pumpkin head ( I know but it's the little things that make e happy ). Well being short on time, myself and a guildie took up an offer for an advertised run from ascalon to LA, She was a wa/me that ran her heart out to make it in time for the next event and we literally got there just as the mad king arrived.

When we asked her price, ( we didnt care would have probbly paid anything ) she said free!! blew me away, I think we both gave here a 4k tip so she made out well anyway.

The point is she was doing a hour long run "just because" and whats more I am actually finding people like this more and more.

....it's a good life

When I first got my necromaner to a level 20 and i really wanted drokner armor, but i was only at sanctum. I was in ascalon city and i saw another necromancer with the same face/hair/haircolor as mine and she had the 15k bonelace which (at the time) i had never seen, So i asked what it was and where she got it, then i said well i havent even made it to drokners forge yet, and she gave me 3k for a run to get there.

although now 3k is litterally almost pocket change when you see the prices of 15k armor and the prices of really nice weapons, at the time it meant a lot to me

When I first started playing the game I was trying to find materials to buy my first set of armor. So i say WTB 10 iron ignots. I warrior comes up to me and opens a trade window and offers 100 of them. I tell him I just need 10 and he says they're free. WOW. I didn't know nice people existed in the game. Another time I post here commenting how I like this fiery off hand and get a PM from someone asking if I wanted it for free. Another WOW.
Needless to say those two have renewed my faith in gamers.

I now make it a point to go to Ascalon and unload whatever I farm to anyone new to GW. Try to set people up with their first set or armor also. Yesterday gave away tons of gold and major and superior runes to a nice polite newbie.

I'm not a devout religous person or anything but how does that passage go?

A guildmate gave me a boat-load of gold when he knew I was looking to upgrade my monk's armor in Drok's.

But what I really wanted to mention is helping new players like so many on this thread have mentioned. It would be nice if more players like all of you played GW. I logged on the day after Christmas when GW was flooded with newbies. I had so much fun helping these players and giving out free items. It really made me feel good about myself. Eventually the character I was using finished all the quests I could do, but I didn't want to leave pre-searing!

The only problem was experienced players who were playing new characters who kept taking advantage of people like me giving out items. They should be ashamed!
